Mavala have developed a basic nail care and beauty routine to help you obtain positive results in the shortest possible time. A complete Mavala manicure should ideally be done once a week.

1. Thoroughly remove old nail polish by pressing cotton wool soaked with nail polish remover firmly over each nail for a few seconds. Then, with a single stroke from base to tip, remove polish. Remove stubborn polish around the cuticles with a cotton wool covered manicure stick dipped in remover or with the Corrector pen.   2. Shape the nail with an emery board. Always file from side to centre holding the board under the edge of the nail at a slight angle. Avoid filing deep into the edges of the nails as this weakens them.

3. Apply Cuticle Remover around the nail contour. Wait one minute then gently roll back the skin with a manicure stick wrapped in cotton wool, working away the dead tissue to form a neat outline. Then pass the stick under the nails to clean the free edge.   4. Wash hands thoroughly and brush the nails with a soft manicure brush. Dry nails completely with an absorbant towel, massaging from tip to roots. Polish with a nail buffer for a very smooth nail surface; this also stimulates the root of the nails and provides a lovely shine.

5. If nails are soft or tend to break easily, this is the point at which to apply a small amount of Mavala Scientifique K+ penetrating nail hardener to the tips of the nails, being careful not to let it touch the cuticle or skin. Allow to dry before continuing with your manicure.   6. Brush on Mavala 002 protective base coat covering the entire nail surface. Let it dry for a few minutes. This base coat will remain slightly tacky to the touch which will enable the polish to adhere better.
If nails are fragile, use Barrier Base. Both products protect the nails from absorbing pigment contained in nail polish and will lengthen the life of your manicure.

7. Choose your nail colour. Mavalas comprehensive range of nail enamel offers you a large palette of colours suitable for all tastes. Why not try something original and create a personal shade by using coats of different colours?   8. Shake or roll the bottle of nail enamel before using. For nail polish to adhere properly, apply in two or three thin coats. For more information on colour application and techniques see our application tips.

9. Lightly brush on a coat of Colorfix to protect your nail polish against chipping and abrasion and to increase the brilliance of the colour.   10. Finally, put on a coat of Mavadry Nail Polish Finish. In just one minute your nails are touch dry and the colour is beautifully enhanced.
